In a ceremony held in Lima, Peru, on July 23, 2010, the Universidad del Pacífico granted Yves Derains the distinction of Honorary Professor.

Recent decisions

Derains & Gharavi obtained on July 14, 2010 an Award on Jurisdiction (ICSID Case No. ARB/07/20) in favor of the Republic of Turkey, with full legal costs, dismissing all claims brought by a Dutch individual under the Turkey-Netherlands BIT for the alleged expropriation of a telecom investment worth approximately USD 19 Billion. Derains & Gharavi obtained on March 25, 2010 the dismissal of an application for annulment against an Award (ICSID Case No. ARB/05/16) in favor of two Turkish companies against Kazakhstan for about USD 175 million inclusive of interests for expropriation under the Turkey-Kazakhstan BIT of an telecom investment (see "Decision Rumeli v. Kazakhstan.pdf").

Derains & Gharavi obtained on January 21 ,2010 a Decision on Jurisdiction and Liability (ICSID Case No. ARB/06/18) in favor of Joseph Lemire, an American investor, against Ukraine for breach of the fair and equitable treatment standard under the US-Ukraine BIT with regards to a large number of tenders in the radio industry (see "Decision Lemire v. Conferences

Yves Derains will appear at the "Fifth Annual ICC New York Conference" dedicated to "ICC Arbitration today: roundtable with the Business World" in New York, on September 13th, 2010.

Stephan Adell will speak at two seminars on the topic of arbitration organized by the Escuela Nacional de la Judicatura, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on October, 6th and 13th, 2010.

Yves Derains will speak on the "Aspectos generales del arbitraje" during the Seminario sobre la Cooperación Judicial en materia de Arbitraje organized by the Centro de Resolución Alternativa de Controversias de la Cámara de Comercio y Producción de Santo Domingo and the Escuela Nacional de la Judicatura in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on October 15th, 2010.

Yves Derains will speak during the ICC Annual Conference dedicated to '"International Commercial Arbitration in Latin America: the ICC perspective", in Miami, Florida, on November 7th, 8th and 9th, 2010.
